Shyly, she parted her pewter skirt
with weathered hands
where hid the bluest of silks.

So still this day,
not a breeze floated
her September hem
or stirred pom-poms pinned
on her autumnal dress.

She lay there fascinated
by the tiny dancing feet
in disarray above
marking this day
in such excited joy.

Then softly,

A solitary,
finger-painted leaf
landed at her feet
tickling her fancy.
In her fingers
it was so porcelain,
so fragile,
similair to her own heart.

Candles flickered thanks
for gifts seeming more reverent
than they had ever before.
Such sacred grace
was spread on the alter
before her.

Mesmerized into slumber's arm
the mother held her close
on a moss-covered bed,
tucked in musty, crumpled linen
as she drifted to places
only dreams are made of.

Rubbing the day from her eyes,
she swore she saw the face
of her one true love
up high in the heart of the harvest moon,
Humbly with arms raised
She thanked her Goddess
this solemn autumn equinox.

She was sheer beauty,
pure Serenity,
her raven hair feathering
in a Wiccan wind.

We all hope for abundant harvests, but in reality many people starve each year.
There’s a way to help though, if you go to this site, The Hunger Site   http://www.thehungersite.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDSites,  then click on the "Donate Free Food" button, each of the day's sponsors will make a donation of 1/4 cup of rice, wheat, maize or other food staple to a hungry person. You can do this once a day, and it's free. This food is distributed throughout the United Nationsl World Food Program, with projects in 80 countries.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Sharon, this is so sad but true, sweet friend, though I am blessed to have a wonderful autumn harvest with my family and many of us here at Passions are, what I really want is for the world to share our autumn harvest, for all those children with malnutrition and lack of a warm home to finally be fed and feel loved! (wipes tears) I went to that link and I want to contribute as best I can to this, God Bless You, you are a beautiful and golden-hearted woman that brings hugs and hope to many, now you've brought a smile to many children's faces and a heart hug to many needy families! I just know Karen will love this gorgeous painting of words as I do, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh my, Sharon...

This literally brought tears to my eyes...GOOD tears...

I could SEE this as I read...and I could
see HER...and I had to smile.

Sharon...this, and you, are beautiful...

And, Karen?...YOU are a gift, lady...love you much...

I don't know what I do to deserve such kindness...thank you Sharon. (see how well I did that, vicky?)---vicky has been advising me on how to take compliments--she told me I should say thank you and shaddup.

The shaddup part is the most difficult.

Because it IS all about the harvest!

But thank you Sharon for honoring me with such a beautiful work that honors one of my FAVORITE holidays--and I am humbled that in that generous manner that you have, you've linked it to such a wonderful cause. I love ya, ya crazy canuck!

blush.

I just wish I had Serenity! Two of my favorite women. Bless you both.

I am so delighted you enjoyed this particular poem for Karen, as she is a very special lady in these forums, and out.  Always giving of her wonderful humor, and fantastic poetry.  Between you and I it was hard to take longer than 1/2 hour to do a poem, but I did this time n order ot try to sqeak out an image for our resident Wiccan wonder.
  Thank you all again.

This is so aptly written for one who humbly accknowledges your beautiful tribute by associating her name to the cause of charity and not to the beauty of herself. Serenity, my dear, you are truly deserving of this gracious and lovely verse which is a refection of your spiritual countenace. Our soul sister, turned master poetess, has written a true beauty, and I courtsy to you both, passionate sisters of poetry.
Love and hugs to two lovely ladies
Liz

Well I am sure glad I wrote this for the Serene One, and equally glad that I caused some of you to enjoy it.  Hope you clicked on the link to send that rice somewhere in the world and I thank each of you for your kindness in reading.
