I watched the clouds
Scraped across the tops of trees
bleed into the shadow
Of their passing
An outpouring that grieves

Who would staunch this
Destruction of the sun
And restore to me the colors
That paint your touch
So gently on my skin

I have seen the outstretched hand
One finger reaching for
The divine
And wondered:

“What then of us?”
“The ones who would understand.”

Billowed curl
This sky
Advance!

Your wounds absorbed
In the roil of chance
Leave nothing to mar

And only the limbs
That sliced you so
Are left with remnants
Of your blood

I’ll not call again
For my knees know the pain
Of the drought stricken word

Unheard

And my ears have grown tired
Of the never ceasing wind

“Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.”

With grave deep eyes
You said,
“Begin”

and all that crossed my mind
was the tops of trees
plunged into clouds

Perfect for today...you are contagious.
