I stand in water
ankle deep
listening to croaking taunts
around me.

"Kneedeep" the baratones argue.
The circle of light finds eyes
unafraid.
My spear arrows out
sinking in spine.

It rises to the surface,
a toothpick
in the martini pond.

And gigged to the end
grins an unhappy frog.

Yeow, welcome aboard, dingus!

You are one person I'm particularly glad to see, and I hope you decide to make it permanent.

A good choice this, for a first post....

Okay...even though I do have to say, 'poor frog',
I also have to admit this gave me a chuckle.

Enjoyed this, Larry.

I knew a kid who used to do that using a 50-lb recurved bow and broadhead arrows....talk about overkill!

(big hugggsssssss) I get saddened when people interfere with their symphonies, dearest friend, my heart goes out to all of nature and I pray the frogs, crickets, and birds, every living thing can sing without being rudely interrupted! This is a powerful debut, sweet friend, I love it! Welcome to Passions, sweet Larry, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your loely words! I can't wait to read more of your poignant words, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
