When you love deeply, you open your heart
Never minding what else you let in
If the one that you love doesn't love quite like you
There's a chance that your dreams could all end...

Our hearts are so fragile, they break with harsh words
The damage is hard to undo
The memories linger, the pain felt is real
And it changes our whole point of view...

The road that you've taken has twisted and turned
You're lost without love for your light
When the one that you held seems no longer to care
Leaves you cold in the dark lonely night...

But love is enduring, it lingers beyond
All the tears and I'm Sorry's unspoken
So you pick up the pieces, and you're open once more
With a vulnerable heart, slightly broken...

Accept these small gifts from my gypsy heart  ~S~

Wonderful write...and you know,
even with all the hurt and pain..
we do pick ourselves up and love again.
Because it really really is worth it!
Much enjoyed the read.

This is so true. Once the damage is done, it can't be undone. I definitely understand this one.

"So you pick up the pieces, and you're open once more
With a vulnerable heart, slightly broken"

Very powerful words. The titled of this poem caught my eye because I think that vulnerability plays a big part of attraction. I think that we, as people, are attracted to others that show hints of vulnerability. In it's purest case, I think it goes back to the ole' cliche bad boy persona who has that touch of vulnerability. In it's worst case, it deals with pedophilism. Either way, I think vulnerability plays an important part in the human condition. If you can't be vulnerable, you can't experience. That's why I always say that love is the greatest gamble ever.

Sorry if I'm rambling.   You poem just sparked that significant meaning to me.

Oh yes...so true this is, Sunny.
You've penned this beautifully, as always.

Wow!!Get out of my head.I always seem to be too open with friends and loves and as a result I always get hurt.I feel though if you can't give of yourself completly and let the true you shine through, then what's the point. It's not a game, but a relationship that means the world to me.

Hi Nancy, and I agree with you 100%...it's like falling off a horse.  You know you might fall again, but if you love it, you get back on!  Thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi Sue, and although it can't be undone, we can learn to get over it. Where there's hearts involved, there will always be some pain, but hopefully there will be more happiness to balance it out.  Thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi LiquidMidnight, and nice to meet you! You don't have to apologize for expressing thoughts to me, as I heartily enjoyed your comments!! You made some points that I hadn't thought of, and new ideas and perspectives are welcome here!! Thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi Noah, and I just know that there is someone very special out there for you. Oh yes, because you have such a giving heart, and one full of love, she will be very special, lil bro...and everyone here will celebrate your joy!  Thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi SharaRose, and yes, this poem has a certain ammount of bitter with sweet, but so does life, does it not?  Hopefully it is well balanced out, and that will help us overcome the harsh moments!  Thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi Vicky, and I always enjoy a visit from you, as it makes me think of a favorite sister coming to call!!!! This poem has come from personal experience, so it wrote itself, and I'm glad that you came by for a read...thank you, my friend...~S~

Hi angelblueyes, and you are so very right. I think that, as humans, we know that there's a chance of getting hurt, but it is not a game, so we have to be out front and vulnerable.  Even in the best of relationships, there are rough spots.  Thank you, my friend...~S~

Sunny

"The Mistress of Poetry".  You have captured sooooooooooo many truths here.  And, you are right, life does go on.  Beautifully written as only you would do.

Hi Sunny
As always, this is a beautiful poem, written from
your heart. This ending just really set it off, my friend....

But love is enduring, it lingers beyond
All the tears and I'm Sorry's unspoken
So you pick up the pieces, and you're open once more
With a vulnerable heart, slightly broken...

Thank you for being you, SunnyOne

Hi Ariana, and you are so kind, my dear friend!!  Thank you for your support, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed what you read!!! ~S~

Hi James, and that is very sound advice for all of us to heed!  One can't always predict what will happen to our vulnerable heart, eh? Thank you...~S~

Hi ~J~, and good to see you here today!! It's always nice to see my friends online, and hope this was good reading for you...thank you too...~S~

Hi Ethel, and I'm glad that you appreciated the ending...(that's usually the hardest part for me, knowing when and how to conclude.) Thank you for such a wonderful reply, and for your friendship, too...~S~
