I read poems of long ago,
Written by men I don’t know,
That write of peace on their mind,
Or a glass of vintage wine,
They write of rivers rolling by
Or light cloud forms in the sky,
They’ll record bird sounds in word,
You’ll think it was you that heard,
Poets of old write feelings
Few lines of story telling;
So I attempt to make a grand poem to present
Yet people reading ask me what it was I meant,
Did I loose their thoughts with my allusions
Or references only I realize,
Is the way I use words the confusion?
I ponder the poet who once wrote of wine
Peacefully sipping by the lake,
But I’ve run out of writing time
And this is best poem I can make.

"Yet people reading ask me what it was I meant"

well that is normal for me to ask since I have trouble relating to what I haven't experienced, but it doesn't mean I can't  grab bits and pieces and make sense out of it or enjoy certain phrases.
