I stopped at the gate
And walked in
Not sure I wanted her to see me
And not sure how to even begin
Should the selfish courage I had screwed up
Find its way to make this happen.

She was there,
Bent over in the garden
Tending to the flowers that looked
As if the summer had been tough.

Dry, straggling tendrils
Interspersed with tender blooms
And her

Caring for them all
As if they were prizewinners
From some county fair

I watched
From the shade
And let the thoughts cascade across me
Just as the sheets had rippled on her bed
Clean…

Cool…

I saw her look
Towards the woods where I stood
Shade her eyes and then
As if cold shudder
And I understood

The walk balk to the truck
Was flecked with sunlight
That fell between clouds piled
On autumns sky

I wasn’t sure where I was going
And in truth not totally sure why
But I did know
Not even selfish courage was enough
To risk hurting her

Again

"Not even selfish courage was enough
To risk hurting her"

And what if she wouldn't be hurt?  What if not trying is already hurting her?

What do I know?  Lacy is stronger than me anyway...

Sounds like there should be another....

sounds like you both deserve the truth...you shared something very sacred, intimate and real....courage, smourage....to heck with everything else, I don't think there is anything more important to a woman then to know she is important enough to you to share something very candid, even if it's bad news, even if you don't go forward together, there is nothing more important then respect which breeds forgiveness, and it may take some time, but eventually truth my friend is the courage which reaps nothing but goodness.
This poem was awesome, thank you for sharing

Capt. Ron, I agree with Susan, she would most likely
be hurt if you didn't even try. Trying would at least
let her know that you care. Walking away from her
makes her think you just don't give a hoot about her. Grrrr!!!!

Okay, where's the next one??

(big hugggssssss) I unanimously agree with everyone else here, unrequited emotions are the biggest killer of all, and going to her and at least letting the mind speak out is more medicine than turning your back on it all! (sigh) Let's trust he thinks it over before he rolls away, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I like Scorpio's reply to this one, Ron.  You know what?  You make me think more!  (smiling at you)

I go along with Scorpio on this one as well Ron..
It's a tough call to make when it comes to love ...and women.
Love this...but you already knew I would.

I agree with the majority here, even just a try wether good or bad would leet her know that you trust her.
