This is for all the girls who got left for a younger woman.
We are NOT getting older, we are only getting BETTER!

~* Yesterday Once More *~

One again I see too clearly, a reflection of one,
Throwing coins into a fountain of youth,
Only buying one more day of despair.
A coin ~ a wish ~ for yesterday once more.

Sitting alone in my own deafening silence
I block out the reality of that which is now,
Reflecting once again on us, how we were.
What went wrong? What did I do to lose you?

Rippling water reminds me of that forsaken love.
Miniscule rivulets of cherished memories
Show me the love once emulating from you.
Memories that now circle the very core and shield
Of a devoted and loving, but now shattered heart.

How and when did I become less of a woman to you?
Look closely ~
Am I not the same woman loved in your youth?
Passing seasons of my heart matured the love held for you,
What caused this time to only taint your taste for me.

One day this woman-child will look at you and know.
Her turn has come to throw in her coin, with your towel.
Smiling, I throw in my last coin, making a final wish ~
I wish ~ I wish ~
She doesn’t believe in yesterday once more.

~*~

Some things take a long time to get over....and we can't go back to yesterday...I've wished for the same thing lots of times.....very wistful poem, Mysteria.

Very melancholic ... it's tough no doubt!

Men, seeking to preserve their own youth, mirror themselves in younger women, causing pain in the heart they left aside... but true love and happiness are independent of youth. Eventually they will learn the lesson.

Beautifully written.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sharon, this is sooooooo beautifully heartfelt, sweet friend, it saddens me deeply to see many women look at themselves in the mirror and feel they aren't beautiful anymore, like the same princess they used to be, and cry wishing they could be in that youthful body they used to be in, when I believe everyone is forever young at heart and you and everyone in the world is ALWAYS beautiful! (kiss on cheek) I hope my words have comforted you as I know your poem will bring inspiration to every woman and show her just how special she is, God Bless You, this made me cry as it was so heartfelt, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I haven't been there and I hope that day doesn't come, but if it does it's his loss. For he's the one who lacks heart if all he want sis someone who's young and beautiful. For the real beauty is what captures the heart and soul not the mind.Nice penning here.

Well ... you are NOT going to believe how this poem came to be.  I was listening to old music while cleaning, and Willy Nelson was singing, "To All The Girls I Loved Before", and I found myself throwing a book at the stereo!  Reminded me of husband #3 actually - took him back 3 times for "love", or so I thought!  That was until I gave him the boot after giving him enough rope to hang himself with!  Oh welllll, as we Canadians say, "Telle est la vie!" (or Such is life!)

Thank you all for reading it - and Noah - you better find a woman m'friend, you are just one sweet dude that's for sure!

This is a beautiful ponder, my friend. Lots of reflection and memories for many women within these lines. Much enjoyed.

Check your e-mail regarding that Willie Nelson song, lol. Maybe next time I hear that song, I'll just be thankful a lovely poem ensued because of it. Loved your poem and thoughts.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

LAdy, I can't imagine a man tossing you aside for a less-experienced model. Balls bounce out of brand new gloves...er, I'll quit while I'm behind and just say...I LIKE it!

I never liked that Willie Nelson song!--but at least now if I ever hear it, I'll think of your moving poem before I switch stations!

Well now Michael I owe you one for that sweet comment, BUT, his less experienced model actually threw him out for a "more experienced model" so go figure that one out!  Whatever her reason I loved the idea.

As a rule there are not too many women that like that song, and if you think of me when you hear it - don't forget to heave a book or something at it!   Thanks sweet lady.

Unfortunately some of us never grow up. We end up outsmarting ourselves with our shortsighted selfish desires.
Lovely theme and well written Sharon.

How many times have we all asked that question...some folks would say, it wasn't what you did, if you were you.  smiles and hugs and wishing you a marvelous day and a good weekend.

We're only getting better, that's my motto~
You covered so many facets of the female mistique, and made her glitter.

I mean it, young or older, we're all heading in the same direction, perpetual middle age.  lol~  I thank you for the worth that you gather in words..

love and hugs Mysteria~

Sharon, I  KNOW  that I read this right after you posted it...and I love it!!!  So, where is my reply??  LOL  Apparently I didn't make it, huh?

This very thing happens to so many women. Then, the men realize that they gave up someone  a whole lot more special than what they ended up with!!! They ususally find out that they didn't get what they thought they were getting....especially after the younger woman leaves them for someone else!!

A very good write, sweet Lady
