As I search for the words
to describe such a scene,
it will fade from my view
leaving only a trace.

Just the faintest of clues
that it happened at all,
even those, over time,
will in full be erased.

Yet for one instant here
all too brief, none the less,
I stand witness before,
with the wind in my face,

all creation which slows
to the beat of my heart,
knowing nothing will dare
to intrude on this place.

Where the Earth and the sky
meld in fabulous hues,
there for all who would see,
if mere words could retrace

all the steps which led here,
and the numerous falls
'til did almost succumb
feeling lowly and base.

Yet those memories too
now seem far and away,
like a trick of the light,
I reflect, and then brace

for the coming of night
when the last sun has set,
as these words would imply,
having known state of grace.

If read quietly, uninterrupted,
it has a particular sing-song cadence...
and is very comforting.

Thank you, Doc.

So very true. We make memories.. be they are not *all* good ones, in time they do fade, and even if they are still a part of us they aren't so daunting in their presence anymore. Loved reading this one!!! Lovely as if a stroll in a cool breeze clearing the mind. Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this calming, comforting word.

wayout,
Thank you my friend, I'm off for a short R&R, and perhaps, if the gods favor me, another such moment. Be well.
Doc

Sunshine,
Thank you. That "sing-song' cadence (if I did my homework) would be anapestic trimeter.
I've grown rather fond it's rhythm, but then, I'm just a da da dumb moose.
Doc

SharaRose,
Thank you, your synopsis is quite astute, and appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed.
Doc

Gemini,
Thank you. As our lives seem to accelerate out of control, sometimes it becomes necessary to just step back, and take stock, and remember that it wasn't always this way.
Writing allows me to do this, as I hope it does for you.
Doc

Ed,
Thanks. I dreamed of reality once, let me tell you, it was not a pretty picture! Now I don't get the two confused as often as I used to. Thanks again for dropping by.
Doc

Dear Marge,
Thank you friend for, well, just being you.
Calm is good, albeit sometimes too scarce. Glad you liked.
Doc

Martie,
Thank you.
