Tell Me You’re A Dream

Tell me you’re a dream,
an angel of the moonlight flowing silent
past the curtain; say the glowing warmth
of you is just a frail blue haze of wishing,
given substance by the long and longing night.
Tell me you live only in this dream
and that you’ll disappear, fade to mist
if I dare yield to the ache and touch you
even here, where every thought is real.
If this be so, if you must turn to memory or less
before the morning yawns to life, if you
are only dream then let there be no day.

Or shall I do the telling, say that as you are
my dream, then I am dream for you
and fated to be gone, to leave you trembling
for the touch that seems so near, so present
just before I disappear; and you will wake
still breathless, hungry for the touch of me,
still melting in my nonexistent arms.
Yet if this can be so, might we not find
that dreams of day and night can meld,
that somewhere you are also real and
waiting, hoping for my daylight eyes
to find you as the eyes of night have done?

And if we hold to this, the dreaming,
given time and space and fate, might we
not truly meet somewhere within that time,
whether in the day or here between
the darkness and the light, and meeting
find that full and broadening moment
of our coming real, each for the other,
hold that instant, bring it true, to make it
ours and real, then know the worlds of sleep
and waking are a dream? Then tell me
you’re a dream, and I will do the same,
and let us dream until we have come true.

That's the way to dream!
I should go take a nap and see what I can come up with.

Nicely said and done, and a whole lot more!!

In truth, I was enchanted from first word... but with these, I was lost. *S* You write yearning with such incredible beauty... this leaves me too awed to applaud... able only to read again and again. *S*

Meet me in dreaming
In sleep dazed delight we'll find
Hands can cross that line.

Beautiful James

in every heart there grows a seed of visions with embracing arms, to sooth one in that mystic air of love....and yes, she is real and there, waiting for you and asking the very same of you?   smiles and hugs, this was astounding.

James, this is so beautiful. I hope that all your
deepest dreams become realities.

Yes, it is one thing to dream the same face and form, the same eyes, hair, voice for decades, and quite another to wake with absolute surety that you have just seen/felt/heard the reflected presence of someone who does exist, and who already loves you, to feel that person's spirit surrounding you in the dark. That sort of dream is utterly unique.
