Crossing lines...

------/------/------

Coloring outside them,
tic-tacking legalities…

sometimes we have our own
Jordan to cross.

Who resents the barriers?

Raise your hands.

Don’t follow me.
Make your own way, even though
ties that bind
choke sensibilities

and I tire.

It’s when we cross our own
with determined lines

------||------||------

and moult in ways we thought
were reserved for others

that this particular
birthing canal zone leaves a headache ~
but someone said

it’ll be better
on the other side…

then whispered, just Live!

To Write!

(chuckling)
white lines..and my mind went to white lines on a mirror, being sucked up through dollar bills....

then to the white lines on the side of highways....

then to white lines of space between print

then to your poem... and find that the lines you speak of are self drawn, and self imposed all too often...

so, maybe there is a connection...to self imposing the lines and to addictions, to guidelines, and to the spacing ruled on print...

all are, after all, ways of defining space...

nope.... just got new glasses...

I understand the poem well enough..but still in crossing lines one defines new spaces and new limits..

as I read it... even a passage to the other side is in effect defining new boundaries ( lines) to be crossed ( and then define new boundaries) etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum

There will always be a line that someone draws in the sand somewhere.  It's knowing when to cross 'em...that define the change in our own lives.  Because sometimes those lines just grow up into walls.

We are on the same page...

And every now and then, it's good for us to cross those lines...

Thank you, Cap'n!

My Sunshine,
The flavor of your write brought a sweet smile to my face.
We are in tune today, aren't we?
It is knowing when to cross those lines, that defines the positive change...
Well done. TD

Hmmm...I will be thinking about this for a few days...drawing lines...seems I have pondered this in my own way a few months back...line as boundaries--crossing the line...those that must be drawn versus those we self impose to make sense of our world.  OK...now you see my thoughts scattered, perhaps, I will have a moment tomorrow to collect and assemble them so they will fit neatly upon the lines.  Until then, my friend, know you have worked your magic witnessed by my scattered thoughts of ponder.

it's nice reading you. I can't help but hate those lines but love them at the same time. It seems It couldn't be good either way.

A person has to live for something, and that seems to be a pretty stable constant..... and besides, we poets can define our own lines!

Pat, Cpat made a good comment, and my interpretation of it is that no matter how many times we cross the lines [in growth] there will always be new ones to conquer...but it pleases me that I keep you thinking...

Wind, you're right...it is a love/hate relationship...even at the best of times...

Ed...you're so right!  Thank you!

I've crossed a few lines in my time and I'm sure to cross a few more.

Stunning work from you Karilea as always.

(big hugggsssssss) I like to think of them as poetical vacation hotspots, as poets do more than stand behind lines but also love to move and take control! (smiles) I really enjoy your poetic perceptions, sweet friend, God Bless You, this is no exception, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This takes me back to my days in theater when I did a play by Israel Horowitz entitled 'Line'.

It's about the same themes you touch on so well here Karilea...

I can't find the script on-um-line but here's a brief review of a production http://www.yaleherald.com/archive/xxxi/2001.04.20/ae/p21dline.html

guess I was the last in line for this debut though -- of course -- I guess I'm sending it back through the line now
