He fights many demons
As he draws near the end.
He has no time to stay,
No time to make friends.
He travels alone,
But his heart remains,
Picking up pieces,
Remembering pain.
His past remains hidden,
A shadow in the dark;
Evil has cut deep,
And scarred his soft heart.
He's hardened now,
He's become a rock.
He keeps his mouth closed,
But he keeps to his walk.
His past still haunts him,
An enemy there;
"He hurt my best friend
In ways so unfair!"
The monster must die!
It's his only goal here,
Except being near all
Whom his heart holds dear.
Such power he wields!
With merely a blade,
He cuts down an army,
Watching their lives fade.
His heart yearns for affection,
For that hug from a friend,
For the love of an angel,
For his heart to mend.
But his friend will soon be gone,
The first real friend he knew.
His enemy not only a pervert,
But now a murderer too!
So this hero seeks vengeance,
And before it's too late,
One more hug from his old friend;
There's no time to wait.
So his journey continues,
His quest never ends,
He fights to avenge
And protect all his friends.
But it doesn't stop there;
He'll find other quests!
No end or beginning,
To all of these tests.
"Is there no end
To this cursed life?"
He sits on a rock,
And unsheathes his knife.
He slices his staff,
Which he uses to walk;
A notch for each day
And a hole when he talks.
And with each passing day,
Though his friend will be gone,
Her spirit is with him
All day long.
A childhood friend,
A companion in life,
In adventures, a partner,
With a healer's knife.
This friend will see Heaven,
The happiness she made
Was too pure for Hell's evil,
And too kind for hate.
"That monster will suffer,
I swear by my soul!
May a thousand Hells claim me,
After I've lost control!
But just let me have that fight,
Let the warrior live!
It's not much to offer,
But it's all I can give."
As the hero lowers
His cluttered head,
He realizes now,
His innocence is dead.
A new warrior is born,
Like the pheonix he'll rise,
And with lightning-fast swipes,
He'll slash out the eyes.
The child he once was,
Has hidden within,
Created a shell,
And let nobody in.
But is there still hope?
That child within!
Could it come back out?
Could that help him win?

What is life without poetry and adventure?
"Little sister" is just another way of saying "Guardian Angel"!

This is rough stuff. Man I felt the pain. Made my eyes tear up.

"May a thousand Hells claim me,

wow, powerful words. consider yourself added to my personal favorites list. oh, and the quote that you have about your little sister, my older brother could take some lessons from you. that's the sweetest thing. you're truly a chivilrous warrior, my friend.

and even when everything was wrong, and we were mad at the world, it was still beautiful.

You drew me in with this tale. I enjoyed it.  I think it would have been easier for me to read if it had been broken into stanzas-but very nice as it is.

My online little sister inspired that quote long ago, and it's been proven true ever since.

Liam, this is a very touching write. I could
feel pain throughout the whole poem. It was so sad.
Hugs to you
Ethel
