28 thousand feet is too high
to see the eyes straining upwards
hoping to glimpse a dream.

I’ve stood there
Staring at the sky and passing contrail
Thinking I would be there
Heading someplace the world was different
And I’ve flown
From where I was to where I wanted or needed to be

It all colors the same…
   The same crayons are used
To color despair
                             Hope
Love
                             Lonely

The only difference is the shade
                                 Some greyer
Some Blue
                                 Others muddy brown
But the box they are drawn from
Is still
64 colors short of what ideal
seems outlined in the books we bind
around the pages of
                                                             I need

Tell me…
                      How do I plead
These scrawled letters
                                         Into words
And help you see

The palette of what I would say
Were my box of 128
                                        Enough
To show the bleed.
                   of just once please

touch me in gentle sigh

that I am not left broken

blank
                                       inside

My friend...you could do it
with a piece of charred wood from the fire
and a cave wall...

and in that, I have left you with thoughts
to go forth with yet another poem.

My Monday morning gift to you.

With words as beautiful as these, if you can't make her understand, then there is no hope for any of us...
This was thoroughly enjoyed.

Ron, i think this write is sensational. and i reckon this is autobiographical, judging from the replies? if so, hugs, my friend

Thanks to all of you...
while not truly an autobiographical write... it was spurred by my recent trip to Seattle and flying. The colors of the landscape below me, often left me wondering about the people below and what it was they were thinking and if they looked as I used to..upwards wishing they could fly away from where they were.

the hugs... ( chuckling).. hey? who doesn't like to be hugged???? so for those another big thank you...

There is that longing again. Perhaps the sky isn't where you should look?

A lovely, haunting read.

Oh Ron...This has so much meaning for me in so many ways.  With two children in the house, I can never find a pen quickly...so, I often write poetry with crayons (anything I can find before the words leave me).  My best stuff is written in crayon.

You are more awesome than I remembered if that is possible!

A KEEPER!

(big hugggssssssss) There probably is no logical answer, but deep down I say God made so many colors for us to play around with ourselves and I guess we just have to paint pretend that perception! (smiles) Oh Ron, I've been to Seattle too, I love it there, and in May of 2005 I'm moving to Portland, I'm loving this so I can be near the ocean finally, God Bless You and have a wonderful day, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

crayons, all different colors, but i think maybe they can all look the same. ask picasso, in his blue period, all the colors looked like death to him. somedays, the colors just blend together. that's why we have people to help us separate... and regroup.

and even when everything was wrong, and we were mad at the world, it was still beautiful.
