This Child...
Of Yesterday

How is it I have become
this child
of yesterday,
whose simplistic words
speak volumes
feeding upon the ordinary,
digesting the temporary
and spitting out the remains
of beliefs through Alice,
yet surrenders her naked thoughts
through time
and rhyme
wondering
what was plastic in this life
but no longer malleable,
scratched and cracked
yet unbreakable.

How is it that a question of commitment
an urgency
in emergency
can no longer have the meaning
of thirty-three years ago,
the magic, all show
and no return, forfeiting
an open heart
laid apart
for all to see
this child
of yesterday, who feeds
and still believes
until the stained glass
is replaced with non-memories
and her happiness
is turned inside-out.

There is no doubt
yes
This is a Child...
I Am Of Yesterday.

M

"scratched and cracked
yet unbreakable."

At least there is that..unbreakable.

Yesterday's child...yep.

Loved it.

Would this have been your 33rd wedding anniversary? I can understand these feelings and reflective thoughts. You have expressed them well, Dear M.

Loving, healing hugs,

Susan, sad thing is like plastic that is flat(charge card for example)..I probably can no longer be molded into anything else but who I am.

Thank You

Earth Angel, thanks...I don't always mean exactly what I say...not an anniversary, that one passed in August..just a year noting how I believed in commitment...others don't and how I live now by words...alone.

Just reflective thoughts from " a reflecting pool" and a question of how my past has affected who I am today.

Thank you, Vicky for reading.
