There’s a long hallway at the end of this
and there’s a lot of debris on the floor
but I can’t help but want
whatever’s behind that door
it’s open, just slightly cracked
and light is breaking through
but what if the shine
is coming from me, not you?
And so I creep closer
the floor begins to creek
the silence of an answer
is what, tonight, I seek.
Each step’s a little closer
to the answers end
but do I dare question
“are you foe or friend?”
But I keep on coming
the knob is in my fist
but the sounds of squeaking hinges
are daggers in my wrist.
But I’m close enough this time
to see the pillow hold your head
and so I say goodnight
and take three steps, back to bed.

this is good, but the guidelines don't allow you to use that word or astriks in its place. it's not that I care, but it is the rules, so you might have to go back and edit it.

(big hugggsssssss) There is something too about walking down long hallways hat can be eerie sometimes, sweet friend, but only reminding yourself this is home, this is here, and once that perspective comes clear again, it brings comfort once again! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is deep and honest writing, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Colifer, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Walking away is the toughest part!
If only the door swung both ways and never had to close.

I thoroughly enjoyed your poem and the sentiment.

Love your pillow, and welcome colifer~
