If I pretend you are here
if I spin happy tales
in my head

does that make me
insane?

If I turn
and you are there
sleeping in my bed

have I lost my mind?
will I be locked away?

If I whisper to you
as I softly weep
in the darkness of my room

will you answer?
will you kiss the tears away?

If I have a happy ending
all worked out in my heart

would you turn away from your part?

Susan...When you pretend, can't you make your own ending?  I do understand this...I grew up with much make believe.  I think it is how I got through some of those years.

(big hugggsssssss) I believe we all need a bit of make-believe in our lives, sweet friend, that is where faith and hope, and even fear, comes from and if you don't have faith or hope, then life is quite unimaginative and heartless! (sigh) I too agree that sanity is overrated and insanity does have a bit of a charm to it, God Bless You, I send angel hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Hi Susan.  Enjoyed this write very much and expecially related to the sentiment of these last lines.  It all seems so simple, feels so right...there inside our hearts.  The happy endings, so perfectly realized if the other person plays their part.

Susan, I guess everyone has to work out their own thoughts in their head...you know, an individual thing. But, if I didn't have my hopes and dreams, I would be insane for sure...not the other way around. So, who can say what is sane or insane in another individuals life?

And this part.....

If I have a happy ending
all worked out in my heart

would you turn away from your part?

is the whole key to happiness in a relationship....the other person has to do their part to make it work, too.

Hugs to you, sweet lady,
Ethel

I am a sucker for happy endings
although they still make me cry.

Your writing is pure emotion, both happy and sad,
and it speaks to me in every way.

Keep on keeping on Susan, it's all good!!!

Gawd...I hope not...
If it did, then I'd be in the
padded room right next to yours...LOL.

Sometimes...pretending is the only way to stay sane.

Enjoyed this, susan...

What is in your mind and heart doesn't make you insane. It makes you a psaaionate person that wants these feelings and deserves to have them in return. My friend you will have all that you desire and more for the sketch of your soul shows such inner beauty that one can't resist.

You response made me do a little thinking...there is so much I could say, but I will leave it with a simple thank you.
