Night Blessing

Do not fear the night,
the furtive calls and rustlings
at the inner edge of sound,
peripheral shadings in the moonlight
or the sudden feel of change
within the cooling air.

Dream softly, I am here,
my spirit watching through
the darkened hours, to know
no ill shall come to you this night,
no evil pass your door;
my strength, my vigilance will guard
your passage, ease your way
and hold you ‘til the dawn.

Dear Leader of Rats, that was an exceptionally beautiful "Night Blessing".

~ Surely a comfort for the intended!

God bless you and your loved ones.

I hope it is....I do not know it's needed, but I'll be there nonetheless. It's something that I do, from time to time, when I feel the call of it. It may make for a long night, or I may be able to transition into dream and hold vigilance. We shall see.

loved the last line, it really brought it all together

This is a gift of great kindness.  True wealth is defined by what is given.

This is incredibly beautiful in its own right... but with the teachings I was raised with, it becomes even lovelier... for even the disciples lacked this devotion, this commitment to watch and keep vigil.

Anyone on the receiving end of this much love and compassion is a lucky person indeed... and very blessed. This is superb!

A love of such is more then a gift, but a miracle and comfort....
This was absolutely beautiful

I loved this mainly because I sleep alone and
*blush* I am afraid of the dark (I leave the bathroom light on).
