Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-09-17 04:35 PM

I am,
without.

Every step of this day
took me past others
who drew their thoughts,
wishes, desires,
…fires…

in the sand,

and I,

I drank in their intoxicating
wordplay, luxuriated
in their images,
rolled around in assonance
while clutching closely effective
alliteration…

a gasp or two escaped
at innuendo
and so sleight-of-hand maneuvers

for well some filled my mind
with their backlighting

while others splayed stark signs
of disquietude and unsettled
hearts.

I imagined a few of them, who still
enjoy the luxury of scribbling with
a fountain pen across some blank white sheet,
fingertips inked slightly
as wayward thoughts traipse in tip-toe talk,
wondering whether or not
to settle onto the white,
and rest awhile,
in gay array of a heart,
now pleased.

I am,
without.

Oh, I know what will happen,
as it does…I shall ease my eyes
away from the poets
and their safe harbor

kiss the flame goodbye,
and in the search for Morpheus,

...hear my muse begin to mutter…

but I am here, now.

Karilea...your muse is never far away!
I know what you mean about today...
Hasn't there been some wonderful posts here at Passions??
Seems like every one I read today left me just speechless...
but praying..."please muse...please!"
Love this piece dear lady...
My thoughts exactly!

Karilea...Understanding this completely...interesting how the muse appears for a bit if we grumble about the time she spends away.

KJ.  This is very very good........and
would you please pass back my fountain pen
so that I can continue the scribbles upon
my rumpled piece of paper...circa 1967...

Oh man I love this poem....
you wrote this for me, right?
more like you wrote it about me... LOL
I am without muse more than with......
and days like this leave me wishing for
some of what you all got....
very  cool and poetically correct write Kari...
me thinks you know just exactly where your muse is.

Lightning strikes and all you see is blue ... this is me missing you"

A poem about the loss of one's muse inspires the writer's muse or vice versa? Kind of reminds me of what came first the chicken or the egg.  Well written and most enjoyable!

Sunshine - and a wonderful muse you have. Now you must stop posting these graphics, at least until I learn how to do it, hehehe...

Me thinks my muse (wherever she may be) needs to talk with your muse.

I have been without for a while now, Karilea.  Oh my muse has attempted her cry on several occasions, but she is silenced by the demands of this world. "No time for words now."  Soon I will no longer be able to quiet her as my own tears will bring her forth to the page.  Until the time she becomes inescapable, I will continue to answer the world's cries and ignore my own.

Sorry...see where you took me with this wonderful write!
