So Long Johnny And John

The clouds all seemed to part today
for each and every one
The heaven’s drew from down below
two of our favorite son’s

Since Johnny now has cashed it in
this world’s a poorer place
The quintessential gentleman
of character and grace

His motto of, “I Walk The Line”
helped him to find his dream
A Country Western Icon
who’s influence flowed mainstream

Before Will Smith and Tommy Lee
both fought their first attack
We had the first original and
proper Man In Black

A man who quickly learned to fight
till he was black and blue
But then what else would you expect
from this poor boy named Sue!

Say hi to June for all of us
We wish you both the best
Your gathering is blessed by all
In peace we hope you rest

If that was not enough to make
our hearts feel sad and bitter
We also lost another friend
the warm hearted John Ritter

Say howdy to your father Tex
as you are in his arms
We’ll always miss that smile of
yours unveiling all your charms

You seemed to live a life so filled
with peace and harmony
We’re going to always miss your
wit and soothing company

We know these John’s will never
feel that burning Ring Of Fire
Thank you John and Johnny
from the millions you’ve inspired

I hope they feel the glory when
from in the light they roam
I hope they feel the warmth when our
Johnnies come marching home

Can't you see Johnny picking his guitar to John's theme song and John taking pratfalls?

Thank you Richy.  Where've you been?  Stick around awhile!

Wonderful, Richy! I was hoping that you would write a tribute poem about the "Johns".
--and you did! Thank you!

that was an elegant tribute. i think both "john(ny)s" are looking down right now, proud that such a talented poet has recognized their lives, and glad to see that their life-work really touched someone.

sometimes the beauty is easy
sometimes you don't have to try at all
sometimes you can hear the wind blow in a handshake
sometimes there's poetry wr

Vicky ~ Thank You Vicky, you are so nice! Hugs back to you!

Karilea ~ Yes Karilea, I can see really see them doing that down here on earth, and up in heaven too. Thanks Karilea, it’s really nice to hear from you again!

littlewing ~ Hi Sue, I missed you too!  “Where have I been?” Let’s just say, “It’s a loooong story...!” Oh well, sorry for you guys, I’m back now...lol  Take Care...

Linda ~ Linda, your “hoping” must have been what made me want to write this... I’m glad you like it! It’s always nice to hear from you!

Lotus Breeze ~ Dear Lotus Breeze, One of them is Johnny Cash, who was an American Country and Western singer, and so much more. And the other person was John Ritter, a beloved American actor. They both were loved by millions of their fans. And they both passed on, last Friday.

It goes without saying that their talents, and presence, will undoubtedly be sorely missed, for years to come.

Thank you for your kind comments Lotus Breeze, and welcome to Passions in Poetry. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Mytuesdaywishes ~  Hi Tuesdaywishes, it’s so nice to meet you. Thanks so much for your wonderful sentiments. It really was just such a shock to hear the sad news last Friday. Especially for John Ritter. Being so young still, and with his recent return, back to television. I heard that there’s a special on tonight, on ABC. I’m going to be sure to watch it.

Well, you take great care. And I hope that just like your name, that all of your wishes come true today, and everyday...
