Autumn

Copyright 1989 by:  Mark V Sheldon

Autumn is a time
That brings to mind
Feelings from the past...
A cool wind blows
For these two daring souls
Finding pictures that they know will last...

And there's a feeling in the air --
A sense of adventure --
A distinct zephyr of chimney pine...
With their scarves around their throats
And their hands inside their coats,
The night's age but a quarter to nine.

And their Topsiders crack the golden leaves below
As the pines
Sway in time
To the autumn wind's flow
There's a halo 'round the moon shining overhead
As the clouds
Cast their shrouds
Upon Heaven's starbed.

Autumn is a time
That brings to mind
Moments of days gone by...
The sun's golden rays
In the pre-twilight phase
Of a day moving closer to night...
And the color of the leaves
That have fallen from the trees
To run freely along the path,
Like the gold in her hair
Draping her back so bare,
Or the tan of her skin from the bath.

An ensemble of toads at the Reservoir
Serenades
The escapades
Of the two, from afar
With the rumble of the ocean, faintly heard to the West
As the two
Picture who
It was that made autumn best...

Tis a lovely season. Apple cider, fresh doughnuts, the aroma of cinnamon and burning leaves maybe with a little of pine.
Love the poem.

(smiles) God Bless You, sweet friend, I couldn't agree with you more, as I believe the autumn, despite its chill and the flowers withering and the geese going south, is a time of knowing that memories and love are with us and help warm our hearts as it gets colder and the colors remind us how scintillating the world is! (big hugggssssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mark, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thank you, Q...

Ron, all I know is how little I know...  but I FEEL empathy to your allusion, for some knowledge never leaves us...

Nancy, it's the best season, period.  Despite all the memories the winds stir up...

Bon-Bon, now my senses are all happy!

Yes, Noah -- it's a hedonistic time, in its own (w)rite...
