Hey, listen everybody, while I spread a bit of news...
Sy and Isabel just came back from a little cruise,
A sixty-one year celebration of their wedding day
Up and down the MIssissippi just to get away.

A riverboat gambling ship it was, with all amenities
Nice rooms, good food and extras that were guaranteed to please.
They bid the Gateway arch goodbye and started on their trip
To have a little pleasure down mighty Mississip....

Sy spent time relaxing, reading books and acting cool
While ogling the bathing beauties at the ship's main pool.
He looked at what he'd sacrificed for sixy-one long years
And shook his head in sadness as he tried to hold back tears.

Isabel hit all buffets...she loved to fill her plate
And anyone who cut in front would meet a cruel fate.
She loved to gamble but was mad that she could not find any
Slot machines or games of chance that would accept a penny.

On the third day, she said, "Sy! Get dressed! You're going with me now!
They're going to have a service to renew our wedding vow."
Sy's face turned pale, hands shaking, as he thought, "This can't be true!"
AGAIN he'd have to say those dreaded words of doom - I DO!"

She led him to a large room - there were many couples there.
The women all had smiles - the men wore faces of despair.
One by one, each couple made the vows they had before
While Sy was trying to figure out if he could swim to shore.

At lastSy's turn came as the man said, "Seymour, do you take...."
His throat was dry, his head hurt and his hands began to shake.
He knew he had to answer but his blank mind couldn't think...
This was like giving the Titanic a second chance to sink!!!

Isabel was now glaring and poor Sy was getting nervous.
Everyone was staring - Sy was ruining the service!!
The words were then read once again and, when the man was through,
Sy's mouth flew open wide and screamed with all his might, "I DO!!!!!!!!"

Isabel was smiling and Sy looked a little dazed.
Everyone was cheering with their champagne glasses raised.
No one saw the hatpin Isabel kept out of sight...
(Sy said the pain and bleeding kept our boy up half the night!)

They're home now....life has settled back to how it once had been.
Sy sits and mumbles all day long, "I said those words again...."
As hurricane Isabel approaches, we all cringe in fear
But Sy's been living in her path for over sixty years!!!

This is just precious!

I hope Isabel has a good sense of humour! lol She must, because Sey has a delightful one and he appreciates it in all his women!--You, know, we Pipster gals that adore him!

I think this anniversary cruise and the retaking of their vows was something very special. They look so happy, and I am so happy for them. The better woman won! But, I shall still have his sonnets to keep me warm in the mornings--and nights!

Balladeer, this was a very enjoyable read and a wonderful keepsake for two sweetie pie turtledoves--who have mated for life!--and forevermore! Well, I do still get to read his lovely sonnets on a daily basis!

Loves and hugs to all three of you!

LOL...no one does it quite like you, 'Deer.
What?...I meant WRITING!

Seriously, though...if I have to... ...it's
great to see you playing in here again, and
in true 'Deer form too.  Love it...

Happy Anniversary to Sy and Isabel!

Isabelle must be a tower of force,
to allow you to bedevil her all the time...

Congratulations to Sy and Isabel for renewing their vows. The pictures are terrific, and the smiles say it all!

Only you could get away with this Michael.LOL
But never forget the wrath of mother nature or Isabel

I had the extreme pleasure and honor of meeting Sy and Is just before the ship took off from the Arch. They were absolutely delightful, what an adorable couple and it was easy to see they know all the secrets that make up the recipe to this kind of longevity. Just look at the smiles in that last picture...that says it all.
Such a handsome couple.

Thank you again to them both for the gift of allowing me to be part of this special trip.

My thanks to all of you for joining in on the fun and for celebrating Sy and Isabel's 61st anniversary.

Sy is one of the nicest and classiest fellows I have ever known and Isabel is a wonderful lady with class, pizazz and a unique sense of humor. She has stuck by her man and taken care of him for sixty-one years. We should all be so lucky to find someone like her.

Happy anniversary to you both!!
