survival is a tangible element
contained within a tear
activated by the fall

courage is the element
born of salts sting
upon the cheek of hope

action is the longing
for the courage
to survive

the sting of my tears
left abrasive tracks in their wake
upon the very cheek you used to touch

my existence today
defies the damage
because I just knew

there had to be more

Excellent Susan. We are all capable of surviving whatever life throws our way. Chris

I've been thinking about something close to this for days.  Thinking about action.  I've decided to call it progress!     Enjoyed the read Susan.

First, survival...

This is very well written.  I am sad for your pain.

Chris~Thank you, and true we just have to have the tools...some need help finding the tools and there is nothing wrong with that.

Duncan~Thank you kind sir! and progress it is!

Icy~Thank you!  Don't be sad..this is about something that happened long ago and it helped make the person I am now...which isn't too bad a thing!

darn  this is so close to me...
You write how I feel most of the time, Susan.

to put a  smile back on your pretty face...your new pic looks sad...I know though, it is hard to smile into one of those cams and take your own pic.

This is my favorite work of yours (so far), Susan. I like the way you put together the first two stanzas into the third one. Witty and intelligently penned. Enjoyed!

btw...I like your new pic, but still...

Susan,

Yeah...your new pic is better than the old, but still...you look even better in person.
