+*+*+
The moving boxes,
are piling up,
and my home's in
disarray!
I cannot find
anything,
~to my horror
and dismay!

"When in doubt,
throw it out!"
~like a mantra
I do say.
Don't wait until
tomorrow,
to throw what you can
throw today!

The decisions
drive me crazy!
~ To keep,
or not to keep?
I've got piles and piles
of 'forget-me-nots',
in the corners
in a heap!

My sentimental nature,
overrides my
common sense.
Some say
that I'm a pack-rat
~ Let the clearing
now commence!

But now that
I am moving,
everything's in
disarray!
And when my home's
in disorder,
my nerves begin
to fray!

For safe-keeping
I've been holding,
all my precious
treasures,
but the time has come
to lighten load,
and that calls for
drastic measures!

I really should,
take inventory,
of that which I've
collected.
They really are,
just material things,
~ not spiritually
connected.

So, Mother Dear,
your words I hear,
from many
years ago.
I'll throw things out,
when I'm in doubt,
and travel lightly
as I go.

(smiles) Wow, are you really moving? Where, where, where? (kiss on cheek) I am moving to Portland in 2005, I'm really getting excited for that so I can be near the ocean and also because the Pacific Coast has so many coffee shops to hang out in, it would be a great platform for rising my music career! (does happy dance) This is so cute, sweet friend, the first phase is always the hardest in moving, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah ~

Yeppers! I'm moving! Not too far from where I live now, but it will be more peaceful--and I love the country!--which will be but a stone's throw away from where I'll be living.

The air is so fresh there. I'll be close to all the country markets and I'll be putting up preserves and keeping my cold storage full of the fall fruits and vegetables! The house is currently being built and hopefully the construction will be completed on schedule which is in a few weeks time.

You will do well in Portland! I know you will! How exciting! I love pursuing my dreams as well. There may be stumbling blocks and disappointing setbacks along the way, but when you overcome them--what a thrill and sense of satisfaction you derive from overcoming them! I truly believe that what is worth having, is worth working for!

Suthern ~

Actually, I plan to donate items to some charities, give some special items to friends and family, and sell the lesser items in a garage sale. What I am left with in the end, will be tossed!

Possessions can really bog you down. I wish I had realized that sooner--but I had fun accumulating all that schtuff!

Oh goodness, over at my house, I have so many "treasures". I have to move them out, but don't have room for them over here where I'm living next door to Gary's parents. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with all of them. There isn't even room over here for all my furniture. I'm going to sell some of it, though....

Can't we accumulate a lot of things?

Ethel ~

After I wrote the poem, I passed out for three hours. I'm not one to ever nap during the day, but I have been burning the candle at both ends. Anyhoo, when I just read my poem again, it was apparent to me that I was overly fatigued when I had written it. I just made a gazillion changes and now it flows so much better!--that's not saying that I'm finished with editing it! You know me, a poem's not finished until that 24 hour editing window is up! lol

loveya!

I do not recall having any lingon berry jam. In fact, I do not believe I've ever heard of it before. The root of the word "ling" implies its made from tongue! lol

Never mind, I bet I can find a jar of it somewhere in this menagerie of collectibles! I've saved everything else!

Kristie Sue ~

Just shows how much your mother has always loved you!

I have been able to part with many "things" during this crusade to "lighten the load"--but I draw the line when it comes to my cherished sentimental "schtuff"!--like anything to do with my daughters growing up!

Thanks for sharing some of you in your reply!

--and I noticed that there weren't any tongues, I mean "lings" in the jars! lol

I'll order some lingonberry jam and we could spread it on our crumpets at tea time! Care to join me?

Do's and Don'ts of Moving

do take kids, dog, cat, and husband if'n you have one.

don't take the garbage.

don't tell the post office - let the bill collectors come looking for you.

do minimize, but be careful!  Today's trash is tomorrow's $10,000 antique!

do get the cable guy there about a month before you move in.  [same goes for phone guy, water guy and electric guy...]

don't pack up one of the neighbor kids...

do let your friend's offer to help you move.

don't break out the pizza and beer until everything is in the house.

do mark your boxes "FRAGILE - NFL Memorabilia"  All of 'em!  [on the side, mark the rooms in which you want to display the memorabilia...the guys won't ever figure it out!]

Do plan on taking the opportunity to eat out [but honey, I can't find ANYTHING in the kitchen!!!]

Don't forget which new school the kids are going to...

don't tell the post office - let the bill collectors come looking for you.

~ That's a given! lol

do minimize, but be careful!  Today's trash is tomorrow's $10,000 antique!

~ Now this is the hard one! I've been using my crystal ball to help me separate the riff from the raff. I don't want my junk becoming another man's treasure!

do get the cable guy there about a month before you move in.  [same goes for phone guy, water guy and electric guy...]

~ Will do!

don't pack up one of the neighbor kids...

~ Been there! Done that! Thanks for reminding me to be more careful! I don't want to repeat that one again! I believe the coppers called it kidnapping! lol

do let your friend's offer to help you move.

~ I have a lasso on hand in case they forget to offer!

don't break out the pizza and beer until everything is in the house.

~ I've learned this one the hard way! lol

do mark your boxes "FRAGILE - NFL Memorabilia"  All of 'em!  [on the side, mark the rooms in which you want to display the memorabilia...the guys won't ever figure it out!]

~ Totally brill !!!

Do plan on taking the opportunity to eat out [but honey, I can't find ANYTHING in the kitchen!!!]

~ Perfect! I can handle this one!--with pleasure!

Don't forget which new school the kids are going to...

~ or teaching at! lol

~Karilea, this was an informative, helpful and entertaining reply! Thanks, Sun Ball!

Susan, there are safe-guards in place and it will hurt them in the pocket-book if they don't give us 65 days notice. I sure hope it doesn't come down to that. I do not want to have to put things in storage and make two moves! I'm already stressing!

I have to remember, "Go with the flow, Linda!"

I bet you handle some pretty big contracts for the navy! You sound like a pretty good person to know! lol
