state of confusion

Quicksand gathers around my feet -
I can’t stop my legs from twisting.
A boggy night blocks my sight,
my captain’s mast listing.

In this quagmire, I find myself
without a hand or limb to grasp.
No sticks. No last minute tricks.
This ooze has begun to rasp

between thighs with a gritty touch.
Beyond the greens, a sand trap waits -
bides its time in quiet pride,
hidden in bottomless lakes

and seas darker than starless skies.
I assumed these sails would stay full,
but a dead calm slacks with dread
and I can’t resist the pull.

Aye, aye, Captain. Hey, you're a captain and there's a captain in this poem! Kewl, eh?

All's well that ends well. Hoping it will. Just stuck for now. A lesson in here, just trying to figure out what that is.

Peace,

Corinne

Excellent imagery and metaphor, Corinne.  Did you wake, shaking?  I did recently,
when I realized I had lost control of
the dream...

not a pleasant way to wake up.

(big hugggssssss) Oh Corinne, I always had dreams like this when I was a little boy, and so many other nightmares, and I know how terrible it can feel sinking in and going under! (sends angel hugs your way) There there, it was just a dream, I hope all is well as we are all here for you, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thanks all! This isn't really about a nightmare, but a daymare!

Thanks for your wonderful comments - and a special thank you to Ron.
