Enough

If I could somehow split myself,
become two men, three;
could take you everywhere at once
and every way at once,
drive race cars, master Zen
and study physics, legends,
weight lifting and abstruse philosophies,
memorize the Talmud and the Tao,
run the marathon, expand myself
to mythical proportions and
paint like Renoir, perfect cold fusion
and write The Great Novel,
would I be finally enough?
Could I live enough,
love enough, give enough
to hold you even then?
And if I could, how would I know,
how could I be sure? I mean,
how could I ever have that certainty?
And how is it that the hardest questions
are the easiest to answer?

Sigh.  Some people demand so much.
Interesting insight, Sir.
I find myself at odds with it, only because
I accept so easily what a person is...
until they cross a line they promised never to cross.
That's about as much giving as I can give.

Y'know?

Jamie...sometimes it's what we expect of ourselves that we believe others expect, when it could be a lot more simple.

How, indeed? *S* And the easiest ones can be so difficult. *S*

I like this so very much... I'd be completely intimidated by such a paragon... but I do like your descriptions! *S*

Yepper been there, done that. Some people are just plain hard to please, no matter what you do. Then they go to someone that is "NASTY, NASTY."
I guess all we can say is, "Go for it, whatever floats your boat."
When you have a chance read "Did You Ever."
Sending smiles your way.

Yep, when is it enough?
Can't answer that one, dear poet, for I am always seeking MORE, even when I'm saturated.
But truth be known? even a small taste of honesty always fills my cup.

An enjoyable, thought provoking read.

Sometimes no matter what you do its never enough...not because you arent giving enough, but because the other person is never satisfied...you have to decide when enough is enough and move on from there...this is a great poem
