Between the Lines

Rhymes of Yesterday

Some days I feel those rhymes of then,
the yesterdays that creep into my mind
and rain down words, lines of verse
reminding me of who I am.

How is it that one day can
make such a difference in one's life
compose me into rhyme or take away
the ending lines and leave me in reverse.

I miss those rhymes of yesterday
the time in hold, the sweet of say
the nakedthoughts in blue display...

Some days I wish for warmth's return
the chill of morn, rising me from dreams,
those that know my between the lines
connecting me to places I have been.

How is it that my table is full,
the setting always waiting for more,
the taste of words softened, yet
in need of seasoning from you.

I miss those rhymes of yesterday
the time in hold, the sweet of say
the nakedthoughts in blue display...

when rhymes meant more than lips could say

Maureen, I love your rhymes of today.
They're always perfect, though I do know what
you mean.
