Drifting thru the open mesh, out beyond the gray,
Into that other world where it's a perfect day.
Where the music suits your mood, and Erato is your friend.
Out beyond the fine-strung mesh, where you opt to dance again.

The curtain heeds your call, and parts upon your gaze.
The rain's susurus gently recede into your perfect day.
And then the haze descends again, a curtain streaked with rain.
A wistful smile befriends your lips, as if in sweet refrain.

The journey there, in humid air,
For those who dream, is free.
The gates are wide, and beg your stride,
Into the your sunlit reality.

Which is the gaze, which is haze?
Does it matter when it rains,
And you are there, in fresh scented air,
In your screened-in porch contains?

What a marvelous response to Cpat's challenge, LJA.  Hey, where've you been, anyway?  It's about time you got your behind in here, sat down, and got down to fun with the rest of us...

Welcome home!

I just don't sit down very often and write.  This is the first poem I've written in months, yet it took me only a few minutes to do it (obviously).  It is nice seeing so many people I've known for so long.

Is it raining there, too?

Some day I will work my way down...both of you are not that far..I keep telling myself
