Cat Trap

Cat trapped
claws hooked
in the screen
legs spread high
baited there
by need
of human
love, food
lap, perhaps
the pride’s
call, her need
to bring
the door open
claws on wire
louder than
mewing

...and now
crucified
on her own
nails, the
eyes roll wild
with waiting
for anyone to
notice
and
come...

I used to think Shadow did it on purpose, to get sympathy....

I'm convinced it IS on purpose... for no sooner have you rescued them and helped them out or in... than their mood changes and they're back on the screen, wanting to reverse the travels. *S*

You've painted a delightful picture that leaves me smiling with thoughts of my furry friends. *S*

And just the night before last, a scrawny starving stay kitten showed up at my back door and after a desperately eaten handout, proceeded to illustrate your poem precisely.
You got it exactly right.

LOL, she has you hoodwinked.
I'd bet you another poem that she can unhook herself anytime she pleases.

But of course, I've also been known to run to the rescue when a critter screams that pitiful "HELP ME" scream!

(chuckling)

a subtle use of the cat and the screen to set a metaphor for our own lives..well done Ed!

I have cats..I know how they look..and I know how sometimes...I've felt the same way..

Bravo!

The way you move me
I walk with your shadow
With your silhouette
Leave the light on
It always comes
Back to you
