One Man’s Reality
of
September 11, 2001

The sound is deafening.
You look up, you wonder what is that sound?
Is it coming this way?
You start to move away from the window.
You hear the roar,
the breaking of steel,
the breaking of glass.
Into the hall, down the steps you run.
The fires of Hell are not far behind.
Cries of fear, cries of pain.
For some no cries at all.
You are running for your life
Death not far behind.
You should have said
and done so many things in your life.
To busy, not enough time.
I’m poor; I cannot stop and appreciate.
The smoke, dust, mortar,
and dying bodies surround you.
A hand reaches out
and touches you in the dust and dirt,
fire and flames.
“Here breathe this, hold on we’re almost there.”
Daylight.
Dust and smoke and cries of anguish fill the air.
You look up
The Twin Tower have been hit
They are crumbling, falling.
Oh! The sound.
You cannot bear this violent sound of death and destruction.
You fall to the ground and weep.
You cry in disbelief.
You cry for all the lost souls.
You cry because you are alive.
You cry on bended knees.
You Cry.

Wow,Bonnie...any words I could give would pale in their response to this well written and emotionally charged offering. Some things go beyond description and imagination.

Such an offering for this day of days.

Beautifully written.
Tears and pain I feel in my heart of hearts
for those who died and as well as survived.
Thanks Bonnie j for sharing.
