At her back, bald Tynron Doon
and Grennan Hill slashed by dykes.
Below, gullies of sap on cut stone.
The wind whips old grass, white,

like the colour of her hair
and day by day she builds little
cairns on the hill: one for
swallows, one for that squirrel,

one for big red tractors.
Even after two small weeks
I'd forgotten which was which. And her?
Now she just wants to pat the horses,

all grins and peppermint huffs,
but the stones, scuffed and tumbled,
are still there. We leave something precious,
even in the rubble.

Well, Mr. Craw, I've seen you clique-a-de-claqueing back in the Alley, but I didn't know that you had come on up here to the Open Forums.  LOL

Sure is good to see you here.......and with such an excellent poem, too. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work, Sir.     And...

Hugs to you
