This was written for a friend of mine who stays home and cares for his 2 year old son Trevor, while his wife works.

I hung up the cell phone and waited
But the old jealousy wasn’t there
An old college buddy just called up
To brag about his house in Belair

A new Porsche in his garage
His second wife, a model no less
And he had howled at the story
Of my life, he named it ‘Mr. Mess!’

It’s true I’m not a wealthy man
In gold or cash or things
My wife doesn’t wear Armani
And only wears her wedding rings

But as I sit here in the garden
My blessings too many to name
Would I want to give this up?
To play the old corporate game?

My two year old is running now
Chasing his Labrador Retrievers
Who love the game the toddler plays
They’ve become good deceivers

His laughter floats in the breeze
As he looks back to see me
I wave and smile and he runs again
Shouting with innocent glee

My life is filled with Spaghetti O’s
And drinks and potty training
From morning til dusk, I am daddy
Trust  me, I’m not complaining!

I chose to become a Mr. Mom
And the joys have been profound
Morning sleepy hugs and kisses
From the sweetest two year old around

The dogs come to sit by my side
They know it’s time for a rest
With my son in my arms, I head inside
Knowing my life is truly blessed!

Oh my...Sharon...this is priceless.
You put, not only your friend's heart into
this piece, but your own heart as well.
So absolutely beautiful.  Thank you for

What a treasure this poem is for your friend--and for his son. He will really appreciate this when he gets older.

You are a special kind of friend to have, Dear deVine One!

I've missed you, Sharon.  It's good to see those who have their priorities in order.  Instead of complaining he doesn't have a job, he's making the most of his own creation.

God Bless.

It is commendable that men can now be Mr. Mom - the sentiment here is beautiful, his love for his son leaps off the page, and I admire him for keeping a good eye on his priorities! Wish more could do that. Wonderful write.
