Reality of Life
By Paul Wilson

Stomp the grapes plucked from vine
Saturday night aristocrats need their wine
Wineries say it’s another good year
Tell that to the liquor store cashier

Grocery store chains keep getting bigger
With prices so high what’s to figure
Blame the weather it’s dryer and warmer
Tell that to the local farmer

Wives clipping coupons each day
Trying to save a penny some way
Two for one the add says so nice
Only to find they’ve doubled the price

How will the poor folks get ahead
Some of us can’t afford to buy bread
Medicine needs re-filling now
What do they think I’m a cash cow

We work hard all our life
Just to support three kids and a wife
Hoping for that one big break
Praying we don’t make a mistake

Credit cards our ticket to ride
When the bills come due we try to hide
I’ve had it up to here we say
I know there’s got to be a better way

I’ll get of my soap box… okay
Hell their re-possessing it today
Just one more thought before I go
Why is this traffic moving so slow

LOL...enjoyed those lines in particular.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth in this write.
Still gave me a chuckle though...thanks for that.

Vicky... Thanks for the smile. Glad you liked it. I had to tone down one of the lines, it got a little border line.We might as well laugh a little about it, what else can we do? I appreciate the nice reply...Paul

Make sure you get all the soap out of that soapbox before they snag it... I enjoyed this one, Paul...

Paul~

LOL

I don't own a credit card..(except for the government one they give me to travel)

I refuse to sign a cell phone contract...

But I am guilty of spending your tax dollars (I promise I try to do only good)..

I loved this...thanks.

Susan...LOL at your reply. I'm with you on the cell phone thing. My credit card usage is on an emergency basis only. I figure if I need it I get it, but if I want it I have to wait till I can pay for it in cash. Glad you enjoyed this and glad you got a laugh out of it...Paul

It is important that we maintain a sense of humour through some of life's realities ~ I see yours is in fine form!

Keep smiling and don't let them see you sweat!

This is delightful - I like poems that are a bit of social commentary, and the humor makes it so much better - but your message still comes across! Well done, I'm liking this place more and more!
