Deep along the Nile
lie reeds of green
that sway in passing wake
or bend in breeze

Verdant the color
against brown tawny stone
and mud
that clings to anything
but the water it took
to birth it

There in shadows of high banks
we rested for a day
an easy fill of dates and fig
to settle the pangs hunger
in incite of empty desired sated

We swam
unclothed and unashamed
to rid ourselves of weary days
confined as we were to small
cramped boats

I watched the water glide
from top of your shoulder to hip
as it dripped a traced trail
my finger would follow
but trembled too badly
to act on its own

The heat of that day
resides still in sunsets
and in rain

and I remember that time in Egypt
before the Pyramids were born

I am sure you already know how I feel about this one...

So I will only add that I love this stanza:

"Verdant the color
against brown tawny stone
and mud
that clings to anything
but the water it took
to birth it"

The way you move me
I walk with your shadow
With your silhouette
Leave the light on
It always comes
Back to you

The Nile and the Pyramids are always inspiring.

Beautiful.
