A gentle, misting rain
drips silently down cedar boughs
to the narrow deer trail below.
Moisture-laden air carries
the fresh scent of trees forever green.
With gratitude I inhale nature's
essence into that of my own.
My footfalls are softened by
the decaying leaves, and nettles
that blanket the forest floor.
I stop and listen to the stillness ~
A hushed world quietly drinking
cooling, quenching drops of rain
falling from the gray, summer sky.
A sense of awe overwhelms me
as I behold the arboreal beauty of trees
reaching upwards into cumulous clouds.
They appear as cathedral spires
reaching up into the heavens.

This reflective walk in the forest,
during a gentle, misting rain,
has blessed me with inner bliss.
Thank you, Mother Nature, for the
silently guided meditation...

Well now, this beautiful poem just saved me a lot of work!  It is raining in B.C. and some fires are being put to rest, and as your poem indicates Mother Nature is indeed caring, sharing and giving.  Lovely!

(smiles) Yay! Oh Linda, I just love the rain, sweet friend, that is another reason why I can't wait to move to Portland, Oregon: though Colorado is a beautiful state it is also a very dry state and I want to be near the ocean! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is the sweetest meditation, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Earth Angel...I have sat in the woods many times just listening to it, that is one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard.
So peaceful just to hear a leaf fall or to hear a momma deer calling for her fawns.

Linda, this is so sweet and peaceful feeling.
I felt like I was looking and walking in a mist of rain
as I was reading. Very beautiful, sweet Lady.

Poetic words this evening to calm a very frazzled and tired lady. Thank you my friend.

Your poetry gets better and better with each write. I am always so happy reading your words.

Too much commotion this weekend with our youngest moving home from college. I thought we sent him there to get an education, not collect 'car loads of stuff' that does not seem to fit in our house. Oh groan!!

Mysteria ~

Thank 'Godness' that the rains are putting some of the fires to rest. It has been my preoccupation with the devastation caused by all the forest fires that lead me to write this poem.

Thank you for your comments.

Kaoru ~

I have been fortunate to have never experienced a drought. It would most assuredly dry up my spirit as well as the land. I have always lived by water--be it the ocean, lake, river, or stream. --and I have always taken full advantage of that fact--and thankful for it.

Yes, you will all be going through a period of adjustment, but in no time it will feel like he has never been away and it will be like the good old days! Our kids keep us young--and on our toes! lol

I am happy that my poem was able to take some of the frazzle out of your day. I know the most difficult aspect of him moving back is the "Where on earth do we put that?" scenario! lol You're a pet, dear friend. You truly are!
