In Search of Yardley

A summer shade of
            coloring, “Timeless Tawny”
uncapped,

smelling, somewhat, like Yardley ~
melting a moment to mist as
swells of recollection warm

sun, and youth,
              “do’s” and dresses
first nylons and nervous hands

the art of primping
and faint sounds of curfews given
from voices long gone

the feel of fresh grass
          a bed of pine needles
                    sounds of a young diamond

before the wisdom set,
           when Sweet Caroline
                    reminded him of me

strange, how a scent
           opens windows
to tinge a soul
                       with immortality.

"strange, how a scent
           opens windows
to tinge a soul
                       with immortality."

~ Scent is such a powerful sense, that it is the last one we lose when we are dying.

I will never be able to use a Yardley product without recalling this fragrant piece of writing.

Sunshine,
strange, how a scent
           opens windows
to tinge a soul
                       with immortality.

Isn't that the truth?  I caught a scent on a lady a couple of weeks ago and asked what it was, and of course it was a scent my Mom used to wear.  I went and bought it to rekindle some good memories.  Nicely done Karilea.

Oh my Karilea...isn't this the truth!
Mom used to always wear Estee Lauder's Youth Dew..
and to this day....
when I get a hint of the scent...
flashes and glimpses of memories flood my mind.
Loved this...may I keep it?
Love ya lady~Hugs, Nancy

My goodness, Karilea, how beautifully said! I can smell the scent Yardley wafting in the room.  Hmmm...may be a good time for a bubble bath.

A wonderful write!
