where the wild flowers grow

Fifties
pin up
girl
squinting
by beach sun.

Seven
laces tie
her
suit.
And grains
of sand
stick to
her legs as
she lifts
her hair in
pose.

Her smile
looks down
upon
the millions
of teenage girls
who look up
to her..
graceful courage.

To bear
what most
couldn't wish
to show,
in a
fifties
old-fashioned
world..

Though in
France,
she would be famous..
Galleries
of glossy paper
printed
on a
centerfold,
her cunning
style.

She'd
morph into
a hollywood
addicted
actress,
hands kissing with
the most
handsome men..
some would be dancers,
thespians
maybe both..
down the red carpet
she'd tap,
with her
gentleman
host.

Her teeth
will have been whitened,
the old fashioned way..
Reflecting a pool
in her
tragically happy
smile...

Her last tune
would
be about the
price
of
fame..

And by now,
we all must've forgotten
her claim, the
signiture on pinup..
her name.

You write of everything so vividly that it takes the reader in.

It's sad how quickly the stars are
forgotten isn't it? You sure do have
a lot of talent, Meghan. Are you going
to tell us who she is? I could almost
see her up there posing on the billboard.
By the way, I love the new picture.

Susan -

I can't really tell who it is, or how many of the who's it may be..
But I'm impressed with the Miss Page reference.. I love her.
