Eclipse

Ground fog swirls at noon
rocks stand out of it
like posing lizards
ready to strike

Treeless branches crack, tick
daring the air to move
as the sun fails, burning
to half, to a blackening edge

stars flare in the sudden dark
and the horizon utters
a mute cry, begging light
from out of an eaten sun

soundless shadowless feet,
tread between the stones
while the world waits
a timeless redemption

This took my thoughts down so many paths... and I like that! *S* We have scientists to predict sky phenomena for us so we rush out to watch... but what was it like for ancients who only saw the sun being eaten away? Fantastic imagery... excellent write! Welcome to Passions!

This place is astounding! I’ve never encountered a site like it. I'm frankly humbled to find that you like my work, considering the quality of writing that I've seen here so far.

I see people figuring out my name. I told somebody already that when those books came out, every woman I know started calling me Jamie, though I'd never gone by that nickname before. It wasn't long before the fellows were calling me that too, and I expect it'll happen here as well. But I'm comfortable with whatever you call me, so get comfortable and don't worry the name thing.

I was talking about Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. It was a fad among the ladies around here for a few months, and each new book brings it right back again. I assumed they'd done that everywhere.

A very, very central character is named Jamie Fraser, and I've been that ever since. I had to read the series for pure self-defense, and I assume it's a compliment to inherit the nickname, because he's everything a Romance Novel hero could possibly be, if you catch my drift. So I DEFINITELY don't mind, and I'll do my best to live up to it!
