Unknown incense are in the old temple Stored by monks for the worshipping people, But few climb the path by tall ancient trees To the cloud shroud peaks where drift chilling breeze Not knowing it’s bell sound on sheer rock walls Or the path through tall pines and where streams crawls The incense remains the monks are now gone None pause there to control their fierce dragon. Gloom Wang Wei, One of the influential creative minds of the Chinese T’ang Dynasty, wrote his poem of the same name upon visiting a Forgotten Temple in the Western mountains of China. This translation, which relates much of the thought and concepts of the original differs from the original to be presented in a modern English format. Direct translation symbol to word is present below. Not know incense store temple Few li enter cloud peaks Ancient trees no person path Deep hills what place bell Spring sound choke sheer rock Sun color cold green pines Dusk empty pool bend Peace meditation control fierce dragon I regret deviation from the master’s work for the modernization, But direct translations just don’t flow. fear not, for it's all there, in our DNA, genes...it lives....and for reasons unknown, blind eyes will be awakened, all in good time...His Time...on that I truly believe, as each and everyone of us has our path to walk...a very necessary and vital individual journey, that is why, it's not good to interfer with the karma of others selfishly. smiles and hugs, thanks so much for a very good write. |
