Cowboy Pride

All that he owns is a heart full of hope,
And a bell and a pad, on a tight-braided rope.
A burning desire to top wooly hide-
He's five feet, eight inches of cowboy pride.

From Houston to Cheyenne, Fort Worth to L.A.
He's trying to make the Pro-rodeo pay.
If he don't make the Finals, you'll know he sure tried.
He's a first rate example of cowboy pride.

It makes me think back, over miles and some years.
Of giving my all, overcoming my fears...
Hungry and hurting, I slept on the road,
And cowboyed-up every time I got throwed.

Too many "buck-offs", too many bad draws-
Too many broke bones, riding sure-nuff outlaws.
I hung it all up, I would rather have died,
It sure took a toll on my cowboy pride.

WOW...seems so strange to read something from someone right here in Houston. Well giving a shout out from home town. Good write, and it's nice there's someone to read from so close to home. It was a welcome sight.
