!? Little Jumping Bean !?

Little jumping bean
silliest sight I ever seen
growing up I thought you were keen
oh yes I did little jumping bean

Hop about in my hand
There you were
jumping side to side.
I thought you were grand
With eyes open so wide

What a mystery you were to me
why you were jumping
I just could not see.

Something in a little moving shell
Why couldn't I see why you jumped,
Well I just couldn't tell?

Flip-and flop and wiggle with a tickle
worming around not sure where you would go
Inside your shell in a pickle
I just know Little Jumping Bean
I liked you so!

Amusing write!

I used to be fascinated by Mexican jumping beans. When I found out that there was an insect jumping around inside the bean, it took the mystery and the fun out of playing with them for me--and I felt compassion for the poor bean-bound bug! lol

Memories! Those fascinating little beans!
Hours of amusement they were! When I
learned that a little worm lived inside
I felt a twinge of sadness for having
caused them to "work" so hard for me!
Ah, the child's thinking!

Thanks for this charming journey into
the past! Very well done!

Thanks to all of you...

Earth Angel---Me, too. I remember when I found out I remember this sinking feeling inside, but before I knew I thought there was something magic about them ..probably from hearing the Jack and the Beanstalk fable. You know the child-like mind.

QJQ--Thanks, bunches. I'm glad you liked.

JilGirl-- I know what you mean. But I did some reading and found out they do finally get out. I remember that sinking feeling came to me, becasue I remember thinking about how they would never be able to get out. I felt like crying. Darn grown-ups forgot to tell me that part...hehe they may just might not have known that themselves, either.

I too was always fascinated by these when I was a kid! A very cute write that I enjoyed very much.
