Folded hands rest quietly
beneath strands of precious pearls
cascading down her pale neck.
She cannot fathom the depth
of this emotional wave of surrender.
How could she accept him back
into her heart’s dream space?
To let him back in again
will only open her up
to more savage ridicule,
and yet?
She fingers the pearls gently,
knowing she will hide her fears
behind salty midnight tears
and keep the promise she made
“ ‘till death do us part,”
knowing in the end
that is how it shall be.

Promises sometime very hard to keep
Not all time give joy, but give sense of self worth
Forgiveness even harder to do since tears can not taken back

Q, thanks for reading!
My PC or the ISP or this server (?) is really glitchy tonight, so I'll sign off now  and say goodnight to all.

BTW: Not to worry, this poem is not about anything going on in my personal life.

fall along side good-byes
     and lonely years

Can tears melt vows?  I wonder...
You speak from your heart so very well.  KJ

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
