I love my wife as we bathe
In sweet marital bliss when we’re both sleeping
For when we are awake
Its cats and dogs rather then lovers
For then she is the headache
I wouldn’t wish on any other

I love her more then the moon
And stars which I deposit in
Her bank for all her necessities
I feel at times like a balloon soon to burst

Spilling obscenities lashing out
Calling her mother an ugly beast
And reminding her who is
The king
The pant wearer
The man
At least to myself

I see her scream then smile
What a perverse little smirk I think
As I am led by an invisible leash
Leaving dignity on the floor
To cobwebbed bedroom
For what faintly remembered
To be Sex
I lose my mind but now I know
It was her plan all the time
Afterwards sarcastically
Asking what I wanted
What a perfect time
But no matter what nothing could be recalled
Now mad for forgetting whatever
I was supposed to remember
Patting my head like a lop-eared pooch
“oh that’s ok honey”
falling to sleep dream of dreams all men wish
of when all can decipher womanese
waking up with verbal arsenal intact
my lips open to be met with a kiss
making me forget except
one thing
unless god is a woman
I will get my pants
And live in waking marital bliss.

LOL.
Good to read you again.
I absolutely love your grasp of marital reality, and your willingness to share a truth. Many women DO smirk.

Dan,

Don't know whether to laugh or cry...

"Calling her mother an ugly beast"

Now that line...made me laugh.

Isn't marriage grand??  So much so I won't do it again..

And about wearing those pants...why oh why can't they be shared???

Oh this is wonderful, Brad!!!  I like the way it puts over the images, one which all married couples have seen in their own lives!
PS...now there's Unisex pants that fit both of you, so you can take turns!!!!....~S~

Ahh, the sounds of sweet marriage, oh how I remember all this, and am just thankful I am listening to you instead of you listening to me.

Good to read you Brad, and this was not only such a slice of real life, but incredibly well done as all of  your poetry is.

I don't want to know where I am heading, it will spoil my journey.

Brad, I had to read this twice! I still don't know whether to smile or frown....you have captured the elevator ride of marriage so well! Chris
