October River

black murky waters are coming
spring and summer have not been kind
and soon the banks will fill
way past the crest of October river
shallow pains seem to swell then
what is it about this constant rain
that does not let up the thoughts of you
to where no edge is safe from erosion
did you know when wading every place
you stepped was deeper than expected
to where now no defense holds this flow
and all that is left is the flood of October river

"I am living a life, i have no wish to live. How did this happen?" Unknown

It makes for really deep thoughts as well...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

"...no edge is safe from erosion

As I went through this poem I found myself personalizing it, thinking what I'd say from a man's viewpoint..."I'd tell this," "I'd say that"....mostly just being carried along by the flow of it. BUT...none of my personalizations was as good as what's here. Frankly, I wish I'd written it.
