The door to music
breeze touches the tops of trees
to hear is a joy

Dragonfly in air
dip and turn above the pool
messenger of love

Next a butterfly
wings like red hair without dye
same as dragonfly

In the summer sky
messages beneath the sun
listening with heart

Only a special ear
can hear the dragonfly...

of course, your hearing
qualifies, every time.

Smiling with you.

You are wise....in every sense of the word. Each of these links is beautiful in itself, and together they are exquisite...beauty and wisdom, form and substance, bound together.

One morning, in wet mosquito country, I was with a group of riflemen.  The mosquito population was ravenous.  Suddenly, thousands of dragonflies floated out of the tree line and began feeding on the mosquitoes.  This gave us relief from the mosquitoes, but what was really wonderful was to watch this group of heavily armed men stop and stand in awe at the beauty of the sunlight moving through and reflecting off the translucent wings of the thousands of dragonflies.

The real magic of the moment was that though we were in a completely exposed position, we stood there for several minutes until the mosquitoes flew off with the dragonflies in pursuit and no human was harmed.

Later, of course, several people commented on what a dumb thing we had done...but no one really believed it.

*smile*

I had forgotten that memory, that moment of beauty in a landscape of ugliness.  Thank you!

Martie's poetry ...
words upon butterfly wings
to read is a gift

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name ...
and know my love and my desperation were one and the same.
