Circle Lines

have you ever
known something
where time
exceeded its destiny
I have been around
lines too close
to fault
jumping over cracks
worthiness does not
come without pain
yet my mind
questions this
measure
does happiness
circle pain
or is it
the other way
around

Helen, you sure do know how to make
a person think. That's a very good question.

Each soul weaves a tapestry through time.  Like a tapestry there is a "big" story and there are small sections.  Each life is a small section (some larger or smaller than others, but still just individual sections).

Seeing the "big" picture is very difficult while immersed in one lifetime and often very frightening for the conciousness of the human life which is weaving a single section.  Most often, the intensity and the distractions of human life provide a mix of demand and denial which makes clarity difficult.

Our actions, in each life, are the individual threads of the weaving.  Most of the time a single action is not that critical; however, as in any tapestry (or in any one lifetime) it is possible to place a thread so badly, or choose a color or texture or direction so out of context that the "big" picture is effected.  This could be considered as a source of real karma.  In some lifetime, this aberrant thread has to be replaced and the section re-woven.  The discarded karmic thread is then in a sense burned.

Sometimes, the threads do go around in circles; circles are one of only a few very basic types of movement in the realm of existence.  More often, what seems like a circle simply is a thread bending back on itself, perhaps for emphasis or clarification, perhaps because of a nostalgic fondness for whatever it represents.  This is what is happening when a soul in one life repeats types of relationships or experiences (good or bad), but it also can be as simple as a basic fondness for certain experiences.

Some will prefer being one gender over another, or one race or ethnicity, or prefer one type of geography or climate.  We each will experience the full range of human behavior over the course of weaving the "big" tapestry, but each soul still is an individual work of art that will show the preferences, weaknesses, strengths, problems (and eventually the solutions to those problems) which are unique to the character of that soul.

The meaning of life is to grow; we do this by making choices and then by learning from those choices; with the mastery of each step, we then move on to a new set of choices.  Each lifetime is focused to weave one small section with at least some  rudimentary plan, but each life also incorporates learning produced by the random effects of chance.  That is when the soul must be most creative in weaving that part of the picture.

Obviously, this is a metaphor; no metaphor is perfect.  Try it on for size.
