Before the Dim

light a candle before the dim

a laugh just splashed and left the pool
empty           though
one ripple remains

a lantern over the well
no goodbye
yet sweet echo is caught of final breath
gone the flesh

too close this recall that touches
the laugh     the music lives

cannot grieve

I see his hold still gripped on light
yet I know that it is night

light a candle before the dim

tell a feeling when
don’t wait

the gate that swings on whim
when closed will be too late

To be remembered, fondly, is a gift for both souls.

Thank you for sharing this.

I remember, and I knew
you would not forget.  Such a somber
evening, filled with poetry
of remember.

This is one of my favorite Martie poems -- stumbled over it in the archives once and just stopped to absorb it, beauty and truth woven together so well that I wondered if I'd write again....

And here it is, back just when I seem to need it myself. Ye move me, lass.....

tell a feeling when
don’t wait

the gate that swings on whim
when closed will be too late

I don't think I've ever read this advice written with more beauty or tenderness... if only we all would heed.

What an expressive tribute to a lost dear one!  KJ

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
