How do you want to leave this earth?
It's getting to be time soon
I became your mother, tho i didn't birth you.

We are thrown in this together now.
Your demise is woven into my karma.
I am the fate
you will have no control of, as I tend to you.

Should I leave you waterlogged
and let you stay out there without an umbrella?

Or perhaps thirsty in desertlike heat,
while the tool to hydrate you
sits on a red and white tablecloth.

It's inevitable
that you won't last the winter;
perhaps you will meander still
until the first frost, but it's doubtful.

Maybe I'll just leave you there,
turn a deaf ear, put on my blinders;
let the elements just claim you,
without human intervention.

Purples and pinks wrinkling,
along with the unpicked zucchini
at the season's end.

It was a plasure to have woken to you,
hearing the birds leave their song on your blossoms;

not the usual garden variety
five and dime off the rack;
you were the top of the line
with a warranty to survive.

And you did so, amazingly,
at the mercy of the weathergods,

beautifying concrete backyards,
on brass plated hooks,gardens in white plastic pots.

And a Brooklyn goil
can't really turn a frog into a handsome prince,
but she has her own special brand of magic,
her craft well honed by now.

And I know this goddess shtick can only go so far.

But I know what heart is,
and miracles come and go
on the strangest of moments.

Because I witnessed it every morning,
when I woke to your tenacity,

whispering to me a thing or two about horse sense,
philosophy dispensed
in the most unusual circumstances;

as I realize these days,
my thumb may have been green somewhat
afterall.

Should I leave you waterlogged
and let you stay out there without an umbrella?...

or perhaps thirsty in desertlike heat,
while the tool to hydrate you
sits on a red and white tablebloth,...

Purples, and pinks, wrinkling
along with the unpicked zucchini
at the season's end,...

~ Those were a few of the brilliant lines from this outstanding piece of writing.

This is definitely a

personally, Michele . . .
I would choose this way out:

Or perhaps thirsty in desertlike heat,
while the tool to hydrate you
sits on a red and white tablecloth.

*smile*

Michele,

'And a Brooklyn goil
can't really turn a frog into a handsome prince,
but she has her own special brand of magic,
her craft well honed by now.'

A magical Brooklyn goil, bet you can turn a frog into a prince...
