In fond memory of my former spouse.

March 10, 1955-
October 2, 2002

I Loved Him

A gaze in face of disbelief
Interrupts me in grate of grief
To find the green upon the vine
Thus tie my past with life of line
To somehow connect now and then
To recall him in times of when...
I loved him

Yet retrospect walks a tired trail
Finding sorrow within its grail
Exhuming that of ancient soil
Once embedded in time and toil

Then I heard her hush in my ear
“Have you yet to see him, dear?
Follow me, I will take you there
It is a path your soul can bear”

Silence swept that corridor
In proceed to his final door
Outside that gate of entrance end
I held myself in cold suspend

Then courage came by holy grace
Allowing gaze upon still face
With close of lid and rest in peace
I know that I shall never cease
To hold my mem’ries of him then
Hold close to heart our times of when...
I loved him

That this was your ex-
and that you could still see
the good in what once was,
tells me how open you are
to the nuances of life.

Very well done, Patricia.
Thank you for sharing such
an intimate moment.

What a beautiful way to say it. A wonderful poem.

Patricia...To take a moment such as this and relate it so sincerely and poetically, takes a special person.  Enjoyed the read and the sentiment much.

Patricia, this does show the compassionate and
loving heart that you have. To hold onto the good
memories is the best thing, sometimes. They don't
hurt so much, do they? Thanks for sharing your
heart with us.

Patricia, this is very beautiful....

Then I heard her hush in my ear
“Have you yet to see him, dear?
Follow me, I will take you there
It is a path your soul can bear”

this stanza reminds of someone I feel I know and I just can't place my finger on who.

beautifully penned.

I still have a lump in my throat from reading your loving and compassionate words.
