where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2003-08-24 02:32 AM

How good would I feel
to be young again..

I know, it seems a little strange,
I missed out on those things girls do
when they're my age.
I still do.

I wonder if there's more
just like me,
the kind that read the trilogy
before getting to the point of
biology.

I may have been
a
hyperactive kid
who ate
anything with a plethera of legs
and no spine..

I still listen to Prince,
late at night..
I dance in my parent's living room
trying not to shake the floor boards..
All while in my mind I say,
"Damn, this is fun, but I should really
act my age."

So I'll sit down, turn the volume low..
Wipe sweat off my
teenage forehead and
light a cigarette..

Watch the smoke flow
slow
out of my mouth and wonder..

where does it all go?

  Expressive write.

I'm curious what this part refers to?

"who ate
anything with a plethera of legs
and no spine..."

  Cheerfulness,

Where does it all go...especially the time?  It's been a while since I was a teenager..(don't tell anyone), but I still enjoy Prince, and everything you described here.  Great poem.....~S~

Meg:

ah ha! Awesome lines:

the kind that read the trilogy
before getting to the point of
biology.

I know, missed out on myself as well.
I still listen to "When Doves Cry"

Meghan, as my Honey-love tells me
all the time...
"age is just a number"...
That could apply here, too, because we all
have a
younger person in us, I think.
I enjoy reading your writing.

Phew ... such an insightful read.

I shall echo what everyone else has been saying ... you are always only as old as you feel, numbers do not matter.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same

Insightful read for sure... and I don't want to echo what anyone else has said ... but you'll find that life holds much more than you think as time rushes on and as a poet you may wish you had recorded those times, but there's a time to live and not worry for tomorrows or for a lost or stolen past. If you ask anyone here I'm sure they would tell you there would be much more they would have done if given the chance to relive any past moments. The only numbers that matter are the ones we let slip away and I didn't want to echo but I'll echo Ed ....... DANCE ... Dance and write like there's no tomorrow.

Kaoru?  Have you been obedient and nice...and sometimes have to sneak to be yourself?  I saw some familiar hints in this write....  I appreciate how you've worded it, boy do I see myself!  ~K~
