pulling strings

trying to please
if only as friends
hard to do
with lost faith
the kids,
the dog,
taking tolls
paying prices
if one only knew
what can not be
not turning back
clock not reset
back to when
pull the string back.

This got me to thinking about books somehow . . . turning pages, but the ink is always permanent . . .
I guess we have to keep turning pages . . .

some strings are tightly
attached

pulling them
can cause a bit
of pain

but pulling
is necessary

Enjoyed reading this poem from the top down--and from the bottom up! Veeeery interesting!
