The Butterfly

You remain in the midst of yesterday
clinging to that which gives you peace
at times timid in facing the future
fearing life's sweet release.

Softly your voice is calling
touching the strings of heart
missing those that you love
but yet never to be apart.

Behind a beautiful smile
lies within so much pain
look closely, see the trace of tears
that have softly fallen like the rain.

I watch you growing every day
gaining strength, ready for flight
You've reached inside of yourself
and you shine from inner light.

Do not be afraid
for you too will learn to fly....
we all must live in the cocoon
before we can become~ the butterfly.

I must have had my momma's will
and Gods Amazing Grace...

I'm a survivor....

Oh, I was captivated by the last verse, my friend!!  What beautiful thoughts it held as I read. I don't recall seeing this one before, but am so glad it's here right now!! ~S~

So tender and true, a melody of words, soothing and beautiful...thank you for sharing

~ Donna, you are that butterfly. May your trials be soon behind you.

A write as gentle as your spirit. Thank you for this lovely poem for us to revisit.

Loving, healing hugs,

Donna, this is simply beautiful. I am adding this to my library.
